So, what is a toxin anyway?
“The body is simply not equipped to deal with the daily load of hundreds or even thousands of chemicals, many at or just below the surface of what’s acceptable” Woodson Merrell, MD.
Toxins are a fact of modern life. They are substances that in some way essentially poison the body. They are in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat; they are in nearly everything we surround ourselves with.
FACT:
Food Standards EU/UK allow for certain levels of pesticides, antibiotics and hormones to be present in our food. These interact with our body systems and we experience repeated daily exposure in everything from cosmetics and cleaning products to food and furniture. Most of these haven’t been tested for their impact on our health.
FACT:
The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed the average person’s body contains 153 chemical agents known to be toxic or probably toxic to the human body.
How does toxicity accumulate in the body?
We are all suffering from the privileged burden that is our modern lifestyle (for which we are grateful for!).
In a quickly evolving modern world we’re exposed to new toxins daily, yet we still process them with the same systems we always have. By providing the proper support to these systems, we have experienced first-hand the significant turn-around in vitality that can occur.
So how does toxicity affect you?
Here’s an example of how it may be playing out for you. You have the best of intentions. You want to eat well, but eating easy so often trumps eating well. Processed foods creep in – containing unhealthy fats, sugars and preservatives. Consuming your daily required serves of fresh fruits and veggies becomes unattainable and - more often than not - prioritising health seems just too hard. You have a world to conquer and dreams to make a reality!
FACT:
The UK’s largest ever fruit and vegetable survey has found that 4 out of 5 UK adults are not eating enough fruit and vegetables to meet even the minimum levels advised in EU Dietary Guidelines.
You wake up exhausted – ‘but first…coffee.’ (Sound familiar?) Maybe you need to get the kids ready, maybe not. But there is ALWAYS a ton of work to get done at home or in the office...and never enough time.
The miraculous plastics that make life easy for you – getting your coffee to go and neatly allowing for your single servings of salad, soups and sandwiches. (How did we live before this?)
With all of this convenience – why does it still feel so hard? It. All. Builds. Up.
